Boooked

Booked is a comprehensive travel app that offers a range of features such as booking hotels and flights, saving places of interest for your trip, and creating customized itineraries. It also allows you to share your plans with fellow travelers and keep track of your expenses. The app was designed to make travel hassle-free and enjoyable.

My Role

The interviews with travelers and potential app users provided firsthand insights on their travel planning experiences, helping understand their needs and preferences. This direct engagement with the target audience unveiled both positive aspects and challenges, facilitating a comprehensive understanding of the travel planning process. As the Lead UX/UI Designer, I was responsible for overseeing every phase of the design process. I developed a user persona, designed a site map, created a logo, crafted a style guide, and developed a UI Kit for this project.

Project goals

Following the data analysis and user persona creation, the process entailed identifying a specific set of features and functionalities to incorporate into the design. The main goal was to create a mobile application that would offer users a seamless platform for efficiently managing their bookings, reservations, daily activities, and financial aspects related to their travel experiences. This approach aimed to address the identified needs and provide a comprehensive solution for users' travel management needs.

Designing the UI kit

The choice of blue as the primary color for the app was driven by the intention to create a visual atmosphere that captures the essence of the ocean and associated feelings of calmness and tranquility. Blue is often associated with water, making it a suitable choice to establish a sense of connection with the travel theme and evoke a relaxing and refreshing ambiance for users engaging with the application.

Low Fidelity screens

The creation of low-fidelity screens allowed for a more detailed representation of the app's visual design and interactive elements in various states, such as different screens, transitions, and user interactions. These screens will serve as essential assets for prototyping and usability testing, enabling users to interact with the app's functionality and providing valuable feedback to refine the design and ensure a user-friendly experience before final development.

High Fidelity screens

The high-fidelity screens were designed to accurately depict the visual aspects and interactive elements of the app, ensuring a realistic representation of its appearance and functionality. These screens will play a crucial role in the later stages of the project, serving as the foundation for creating interactive prototypes that will be tested with users to evaluate usability, gather feedback, and iterate on the design for an optimal user experience.

Prototyping and testing the results

The prototype served as a valuable tool for assessing how users interacted with the new app design, allowing for firsthand evaluation and observation of their actions and feedback. By leveraging the insights gained from this evaluation, I was able to make informed refinements to the final designs, addressing any identified usability issues and incorporating user preferences. These refinements were then validated through a conclusive round of usability testing, ensuring that the improvements made effectively enhanced the user experience and met the project's objectives.

Final Takeaways

The objective of this mobile app was to consolidate all travel essentials into a single platform. During usability tests, participants praised the app's easy navigation, providing reassurance as the product designer. Following the tests, the final designs were revised based on the valuable feedback received. Designing this app was an immensely satisfying achievement, and the aspiration is to see it developed and utilized by travelers worldwide. The app aims to simplify the travel planning process, offering a seamless user experience and efficient management of travel-related tasks.
